If you read enough about Phil Mickelson, you’ll quickly learn his preparation techniques are a bit unorthodox. The man will try just about anything if it gives him an edge, as long as he can explain how it will afterwards. Apparently, that includes long-range sniper shooting.
Mickelson’s new, often hilarious, sometimes cringe-y Twitter account had been a bit quiet of late, besides his loud and proud Uncle Sam-esque tweet about earning a captain’s pick. That changed Wednesday night when Mickelson sent his second video post, the first being an equally-dangerous karate kick over NCIS: Los Angelesstar Chris O’Donnell. Here’s the clip, in which Mickelson takes aim in the name of Ryder Cup prep. Allow him to explain:
How is today’s long range sniper shooting preparing me for the Ryder Cup?
Meditation, controlling my thoughts, breathing, heart rate and connecting with the target are critical for both! pic.twitter.com/x5T817hVMF

The best part about this, aside from the USA hat (nice touch) and his vintage dad “nailed it” quote at the end, is that Phil has convinced himself that this will help him when faced with a 125-yard wedge shot into a tucked pin at Le Golf National.
If someone doesn’t ask him if long-range sniping helped him win a point in the Friday morning session, we’ve all failed. Europe might as well forfeit now.
