It’s been a rough time for John Senden. His son Jacob’s health battles (which thankfully have produced good news) cost him time away from the game and at 47 he is trying to get back into the tournament groove.
Senden also authored one of the more bizarre moments in professional golf today during the first round of the Australian PGA Championship. Teeing off on the par-5 ninth hole, the Queenslander’s driver snapped beneath the grip while he was mid-swing. It appears he attempted to abort the swing but his club still passed the ball – missing it completely (although perhaps entirely deliberately). It makes for extraordinary viewing:
Have you ever seen a driver snap mid-swing?

The incident confused the rules officials, who needed to determine whether or not the stroke counted.
